Canon seems to have prioritized optimising their cameras for video recording more than Nikon has. Don't get me wrong, I've recorded great video on my Nikons, but most (if not, all) Professional Photographers I've talked to agree that Canon is just a better choice for those who are interested in shooting high-quality video as well as still images.
